Massive Crackdown: Over 1,000 Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals Detained in Gujarat Ahmedabad/Surat, April 26, 2025 — In one of the biggest operations against illegal immigration, the Gujarat Police detained more than 1,000 Bangladeshi nationals residing unlawfully across the state. The pre-dawn raids were conducted simultaneously in Ahmedabad and Surat cities. According to officials, the coordinated operation involved the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, Special Operations Group (SOG), Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), and local police forces. The crackdown began at 3:00 AM and focused on areas known for harboring undocumented immigrants. In Ahmedabad, approximately 890 individuals were detained, while another 134 were held in Surat.
